Let's go Sailing!

Folly is a sailboat again!  Yay!!!

Sailboats always look so broken and sad when their masts are down. We couldn't wait to put Folly back together again.  Not only are we glad to get rid of the constant drone of the engine, it's nice to see her looking like she should.....happy and proud.

It's been a busy six days since we arrived at Turner Marine on Oct. 27.  Naturally, we were disappointed that the mast wasn't here like we expected but, to be honest, we wouldn't be any further ahead if it had been.

On the 28th it arrived nicely wrapped and ready for us to prepare to put up.  It needed to be unwrapped, cleaned and waxed, the spreaders put back on, the shrouds and halyards placed, and electrical items reinstalled.  It was a big job but we got through it even if it was blistering hot.

The atmosphere around the marina has been upbeat and fun.  Everyone is happy that the river experience  is over and looking forward to the next leg of the adventure.   Each person is unique and has their own set of circumstances that brought them here.   It's been fun to chat with these folks and swap stories and email addresses.  I find this to be the best part of the adventure.  We have a whole new set of friends now.

There is also a beautiful yacht club next door that we have patronized several times.  Its been a great meeting place and very entertaining, especially on race nights!  It also has a pool and a bar and restaurant overlooking the water. That's been a big plus for sure.

Oh, and we spent some money while we've been here.  We bought a watermaker and a sun awning.  You know what B.O.A.T. stands for?  Break Out Another Thousand.  Each thousand is a boat unit.   This week we spent several boat units.  That better be it!

Today will be spent reprovisioning and cleaning.  Tomorrow we go sailing!  .....but more about that....next time.
