A Vacation from our Vacation

I'm starting to feel better about our decision to do the inland water system this time around rather than the intercoastal waterway and it's not necessarily because of Hurricane Matthew.   Having said that though, it is very sobering to think of all those folks who are affected by this devistating storm.  Some of them we know personally and our thoughts, prayers and hearts go out to all of them.

With hurricane season still in effect we are in no hurry to get south so we've taken the last few days to kick back and take advantage of the wonderful cruising grounds we have discovered here in and around Pickwick Lake.  It's a well kept secret that's for sure.  Too bad it's so hard to get to!

To try to discribe it here I would compare it to Muskoka or Parry Sound with lots of protected bays to anchor in. Where it is not park land, there are magnificent cottages.  There are no poor people here.  (except for us "riff raff" passing through...lol)

The weather has been perfect.  If you think of the nicest days of summer in Ontario, that's what it's been like....absolutely fabulous..... and we've been swimming  and doing all the stuff you do while on vacation.

Today we are on the move again and are now in the state of Mississippi in the Tombigbee Waterway.....another milestone.  It's hard to believe we are two-thirds of the way down.  For the next while, the river is narrow and there are many locks.  Not sure how exciting that will be to write about but you will hear more about that....next time.  (Lol)

no alligators....water was warm.....just not very flattering
These pictures are from my phone.  I will post camera pictures later.

  1. Swimming! The surroundings that you're swimming in. Perfect hey? I am enjoying the different colours of the leaves. B.C. is pretty dang fabulous in the fall as well...but Ontario? THE WINNER hands down. I like to hear that you're taking some time out. See ya's later eh? N,x
