We're All Going to Chicago

 

 



 

 

Take a good look at Folly with the mast and sails up because in a couple of days they will be gone. 

 

Tonight at approximately 2300 Sea Mist, Adamant 1, and Folly will be pulling the anchor and sailing across Lake Michigan to Chicago from here in Holland Michigan. 

 

All the arrangements are done.  The mast will be taken down at Skyway Yacht Works in Chicago where it will stay until Albert Logistics comes to pick it up and take it to Mobile Alabama.  It's definitely unnerving to think we are leaving such an important part of the boat behind and in someone else's care but we felt it was the way to go.  Our mast is 61 feet.  That's a lot to carry on deck and Harley says we could possibly do damage to it carrying it ourselves .... so we're going to have someone else to do it for us. Sometimes you just have to trust.

 

Unstepping the mast will be interesting but more about that...next time.
